location : Lackawanna county, PA, a very rocky slope which is covered with different kinds of Lichen
June 1. 2006 Visiting my favorite slope last weekend I found another interesting Lichen. I believe this to be: Cladonia cervicornis ssp verticillata

And another closer look:
The cups are coming out from the center, not the margins. They are forming several tiers. squamules are just about nonexistent. Consulting my beautiful Lichen Book (Lichen of North America), I found a perfect picture of the same Lichen with an excellent description, providing a good match.
