purpurata 'Treasure of Carpinteria' X L. purp. 'Flamenco' added new growth last year but didn't bloom. I was advised to place it outside in the spring (here in NJ) to subject it to cooler temperatures after the new pseudobulbs had matured. We did have a very cool and wet spring this year, so perhaps that helped. The plant cooperated and the sheaths filled out slowly. This week I watched the L purpurata come into bloom, finally. Six spikes - very enjoyable!! |

| Gloriosa Lily - the plant is a climber, it grabs hold with it's curly leaf tips. The plant branched out as it grew rapidly and produced lots of buds. No scent was detected, but the flowers are very pretty. | |||||||||||
