Paphiopedilum spicerianum

December 20. 2005

I picked up a small plant of Paphiopedilum spicerianum from Oak Hill Gardens at the Chicago Orchid Fest in September 05.
I placed the plant amongst the Masdevallias ( and similar) into good light, watered the plant every day with rainwater right along with the other " little Gems". Not long after that it started to spike. What cute flowers!! They measure about 2.5 inches across, the flower to the right opened first and one can see the dorsal sepal starting to curve backwards.
And a closer look at the right side flower
